GAJ Technology Simulator
We are a cable simulator, not a cable manufacturer, and as such we have different objectives, a cable manufacturer's objective is to provide a channel for the data, and our objective is to provide a test platform.
There are probably as many cable characteristics as there are cable manufacturers, some standards list multiple tables of cable characteristics depending on the cable gauge, the country, the temperature, how they are laid out, etc. Using real cable as a test platform can be tricky; long length of cable is bulky, one has to ensure to use the same cable type, preferably always by the same manufacturer, ensure that it's laid out the same way because the characteristic of a roll of cable is not quite the same as a cable laid flat, ensure that multiple cables are not too close to avoid cross talk, and so on. Cable manufacturers don't aim for a standard, they aim to be below the limits defined by the standards. Using our cable simulators avoids many of those problems, they are compact, reliable and remain the same year after year. We offer various types of cable with various lengths, and when needed, we can design a new cable simulator with whatever cable characteristic desired, just provide us with the specs such as the insertion loss curve. Our company has been in business since 2002 and has sold thousands of our simulators everywhere in the world. We do all the manufacturing and the support ourselves. Our simulators are compact, easy to use, reliable and inexpensive. When we design them we mainly use the specifications provided by international standards, and sometimes with specifications provided by customers. The design first reproduces the insertion loss as accurately as possible over the whole frequency range, the most important characteristic of a cable, while reproducing the impedance, and so the return loss as accurately as possible, typically at 100 ohm in many standards. Our specs web page at the bottom shows the insertion loss, impedance and return loss curves of our simulators.GAJ Technology's PoE strengthened modules, allow a maximum current of 200mA per wire and the voltage of 50V into each pair of simulated wire. Up to 800mA can be supplied to the Unit Under Test {UUT}. using two pair of wires.
With GAJ Technology's regular modules, the current is limited to 45mA per wire and the voltage of 50V into each pair of simulated wire. Each pair is completely independent, so up to 180mA could be supplied to a powered device (PD) {UUT} using two pair.
All of our simulators both PoE strengthened with higher wattage components and our regular modules can be used in a PoE test circuit provided that the PoE injection point is after the module in the test circuit.
It is highly recommended that the PoE injection point for all types, is after the module in the test circuit to avoid damage.
DC resistance should be considered when using with higher powered PoE devices.
The DC resistance of each pair of wire in our CAT5/5e - 100m simulator is about 6.05 ohms (Parallel Resistance) or about 24.2 Ohms for each wire. (Series resistance)
The DC resistance of each pair of wire in our CAT6 - 100m simulator is about 9.1 ohms (Parallel Resistance) or about 36.4 Ohms for each wire. (Series resistance)
Caution:
Current is limited to 200mA per wire and the voltage to 50V into each of the pair
of simulated wire. Each of the pairs are completely independent of each other,
so up to 800mA could be provided to a powered device (PD) using 2 pair of wires.
Note:
The 50 volt limitation is between the two wires in a pair. The current is
normally carried over two pairs, so there is no limit on voltage between two pairs.
The sustainable current is 200mA per wire (400mA per pair).
The DC resistance in each wire of the simulator, indicated above, can limit the amount of power that can be delivered to the device under test.

Limited Warranty:
GAJ Technology's simulators are warranted from defects in materials and workmanship
for a period of 90 ninety days from date of purchase by the original purchaser. All
sales are final. In case of defect in materials or workmanship, we will replace or
repair the unit, at our option. Replacement or repair of this product as provided
under this limited warranty shall be the exclusive remedy of the consumer.
GAJ Technology shall not be liable for any loss or damages, including consequential, indirect and incidental damages, arising out of the use of or inability to use, the product or of any express or implied warranty or condition on this product.
